Gold Lace

Image
This is my Gold Lace Juniper bush. It contains many different yellow-greens colors that are the leaves or branches. This bush has slowly been  growing and spilling over the edge of its pot. After winter is over I plan on planting it outside so it is able to plant its roots. It is a simple and easy plant, as long as you don't forget to water it.

Orchids

Image
Orchids are on the more difficult side of house plants, they take a lot of care and attention. I currently have two orchid plants. The first one is a 5 year old orchid that my boyfriend had helped me save after it being neglected for a month or so and was on the edge of death. It has made a comeback, I am just waiting for the day it starts to flower again. The other plant is just a baby maybe a year old that I received as a gift after my grandma died. Orchids are unique because they breathe through their roots, so they need to be planted so their roots are able to breathe and suck up water. The grow beautiful flowers that look fake when you glance by, which is totally worth the wait, dedication, and care.

Aloe

Image
My Aloe Vera plant was a recent investment about a year ago, my main plant has grown quite a bit since I have had it. Aloe is a type of succulent plant which means its leaves hold water. The water is turned into a gel by the leaves, this gel has many beneficial uses. The most common uses of Aloe are as a sunburn relief, skin care, helps heal wounds faster, you can even eat it by mixing it with water that helps with heartburn and other digestive issues. This plant grows pretty quickly and sometimes sends off shoots of offspring (as pictured on the right). It does well in most settings, but I usually keep mine by a window to get decent sunlight. This is an easy plant to grow and keep alive that also doubles as a natural medicine.

Easiest Plant Ever

This is called a Red Aglaonema, it is a great choice for someone who is just starting out in the plant world, considering how low maintenance it is. It can grow in practically any room in your house, you could even put it in your office at work. This plant comes in a few different colors and each leaf has its own pigment spot pattern. It is a pretty plant that would look good in any home.

Money Money Money

Image
I'm sure we have all had our parents tell us at one point in our lives that money doesn't grow on trees. I bet they have never heard of the Money Tree. Yes it is actually called a money tree, its more technical name is the Guiana Chestnut Tree, but I like money tree better. It is a tropical plant that grows clusters of bright green leaves. This plant LOVES water, it is a tree that likes to grow in swampy grasslands. Pictured I have the mother tree and the other is the offspring or of a clipping taken off of the tree and replanted. This is a fairly fast growing tree that thrives in the sunlight.

Thirsty?

Have you ever gone for a walk in the woods and forgot your water bottle? This plant can supply that and more! It is called a Nepenthes also known as a Pitcher Plant. There are over 100 different species of this plant, some grow in the amazon that can be the size of a small child! This is a carnivorous plant, which means it eats bugs and other creatures. The leaves grow a short vine that grows the little pitchers. This plant collects rain water to attract insects and other organisms, the bugs go to drink the water and end up falling in the pitcher to their death. In the spring and summer time the pitchers turn a beautiful purple color at the top around the mouth that fades into a bright green color on the bottom.

Violets

Next up is the African Violet plant. this plant has velvet like leaves that are hard to resist touching as you walk by. My particular plant here flowered in spring, and has just recently shed its flowers. The flowers are made up of clusters of small purple heart-shaped flowers. I love this plant because of its beauty with or without its flowers. It has such a unique texture that catches your interests. These are images of the violet plant in bloom. The flowers are a pretty pink and purple with a yellow ball like center.
